Earth Hour

What is this Earth Hour I just read about?

Lights out in the city to save energy. Okay, let me explain how this “conservation” plan should go:

  • Tell people that they’re saving money if they switch to energy efficient appliances. I think they just implemented a tax refund if you’ve bought an energy efficient appliance in the last year (don’t quote me on that).
  • Tell business owners “Hey, save money on your building’s utility cost by not leaving your computers on all night.” Business owners (mostly) would go to any length to save a dime. In these economic times, companies are cutting back.
  • Give building owners that lease their floors to tenants an incentive to require their tenants to be energy efficient appliance.
  • Stop designing inefficient things for people to buy at a cheaper price. Make an affordable thing. If energy conservation is a goal, don’t make it a feature and a bigger price tag on every new energy star product.

Healthcare bill: $250 Million for Bullshit

US Health Overhaul

Have you looked at CNN lately? That is one of my various ways of getting news, yes.

(CNN) — The health care reform legislation that President Obama signed recently isn’t only about insurance coverage — there’s also a renewal of $50 million per year for five years for abstinence-focused education.

Programs that receive this funding must “teach that abstinence from sexual activity is the only certain way to avoid out-of-wedlock pregnancy, sexually transmitted diseases, and other associated health problems,” according to the Department of Health and Human Services. To qualify, they must also teach that sex before marriage is “likely to have harmful psychological and physical effects.” These are part of the “A-H definition,” requirements for programs to receive abstinence funding under Title V of the Social Security Act.

Women to Serve on Submarines

submarine

I find it appalling that people are so against women serving on submarines. In the last century, we’ve taken a lot of steps as far as women’s rights and all that. I hear some say that if women wanted to be treated equally, then they should stand up and do the stuff that men do. Well, give women the opportunity now. Everyone is so focused on the possibilities of the rules breaking. Well, the rules have been broken before and it wasn’t the end of the world.

Happy Thanksgiving

thanksgiving troops

I’m all for supporting the troops and giving them a bit of home on the holidays, but wow, that’s a lot of money. More importantly, that’s a lot of food. (more…)

Girl tased for not showering

The other day, while I was with the boyfriend, he pulled up an article on a 10 year old girl that was tased after her mother was unable to – let me put this my own way – be a parent.

Really world, if you can’t get your child with proper discipline to take a shower, eat their veggies and go to bed, what the hell are you doing as a parent? Just because you can change a diaper or two or three, doesn’t make you fit to raise that child. Learn some hard discipline. Learn to take charge.

Find your balls.

It angered me so much when I read that article. Sure, the girl didn’t have the right to kick the officer in the groin, but he also should have had the sense that he shouldn’t use a taser on a 10 year old girl. She’s 10. I’m sure if that officer was a parent, he’d be as incapable of parenting as much as that stupid ***** for a mother.

She was 10. Tased for not showering.
