Interests

The Musician

I am quite a fan of the piano. I took lessons for 14 years, from age 4 to age 18. I mainly play classical music but have also dabbled in some of the mainstream pop/rock music as well. I have performed quite a few times. Every year while taking lessons, there would be two annual recitals that consisted of all the students and a 500+ audience. Some of my favorite pieces to play would be Canon in D, Fur Elise, The Entertainer, and Hungarian Dance.

After about 7 years of piano lessons, I wanted to explore other musical instruments so the violin would be the second instrument I picked up. I am not as great on the violin but I did play for 2 years. Unfortunately, it has been a while since I’ve picked one up. My favorite song to play at the time was The Cuckoo Clock and Allegro.

During my years of volunteering in a local hospital, I was inspired by my supervisor to pick up the guitar. I currently own an electric guitar but I started learning on an acoustic. I am honest about being horrible on guitar, however, it still remains quite stable in my life. I am currently learning how to play Canon in D on guitar.

Other instruments I have played around with are flute, clarinet, and the recorder.

The World of Warcraft

Ahhh yes. I used to be one of those people. World of Warcraft can ruin your life if you have no moderation, I will say that much. However, for those familiar with the game, I play a restoration druid mainly but I also have a 70 hunter, a 29 twink shaman, a 33 warlock, and a level 8 paladin. I mainly play because of my friends and to have fun. It’s a nice time killer but I really don’t recommend getting addicted.

Personality

Social

I am not a shy person but I’m not outgoing. I have a balance between both. I like to learn people’s boundries and feelings before I say too much. However, I try not to say too little so that I don’t give off the impression of not trying to socialize. My worse social fear is becoming an intruder. I don’t want to assume I fit into a group until I know they want me a part of that group. So when someone first meets me, I can come off as shy, quiet, and conservative. However, I think people that are more familiar with me will probably say I’m not as quiet as when they first met me. Of course, all this depends on when and where they meet me.

I play well with others. I avoid conflict. I try to not react harshly to situations. I try to stay rational about things and not leap to my first emotion. I started practicing this behavior after my first relationship ended and I saw the kind of person I was towards others. However, there are still times I can be brutally honest (yet constructive still) and there are times where I rather not share my opinion.

Professional

Professionally, I respect those with more knowledge than me and to some extent, expect them to take lead on projects. However, when in need, I can step up to the plate and fulfill a leadership role. I ask a lot of questions when it comes to my work and I enjoy collaborating on projects where there are opportunities for me to learn. I think I enjoy working solo for the sense of accomplishment but equally, I enjoy working as a team. It’s hard to complete a big project on your own, however, it’s just as hard to complete a big project with good team coordination. Do I prefer one over the other? I think it depends highly on the type of project I am working on.

I try to be as reliable as I can but I’m also very honest. While it’s great to get work done, if there is something I can’t handle, I will admit it. If there is something I don’t know, I will ask. I am not afraid to say no to my clients when they are asking for the impossible but I will go through every hoop first to see if it is possible. I am great with deadlines because being under pressure motivates me to accomplish more. However, like most, I enjoy a laid back environment even if there are deadlines.

Lastly, I am also the type of person that makes all attempts to keep her professional life and her personal life separate. I do support the saying “Leave your life at the door when you walk into work.”

Relationships

I am currently in a relationship.
